Crack!

Didn't realize it's been so long since a post! Everything with MB is still going well. On Saturday it'll be 3 weeks. He lives really close to me (less than 5 minutes) so we've been hanging out a lot after work and just watching tv/talking.

Last Friday night we went out on a date and I told him to surprise me. We like the same food (no sushi) so I figured anywhere he liked I'd probably like too. I've realized that I love being surprised. So, he took me to a restaurant in RR that was nice, small, low lighting, excellent steak and then afterward we went to Mozarts down on the lake. It's a dessert/coffee place but it was around 10:30 and not that busy. We were able to sit on their patio for a long time and enjoy the weather and breeze from the lake. It was a lovely time.

Later after we got back to my place and were hanging out, I noticed my back was hurting a little. And no, we were not doing anything kinky! I figured it was just cramps or something. I rarely get cramps...maybe once or twice a year, but it was my lower back so I figured that's what it was. The whole weekend it bothered me. MB and I had separate plans for the weekend - we're trying not to become the couple that ignores all their old friends when they're dating someone new. I have always found that annoying, so I'm glad we're setting time aside to see our friends. Saturday afternoon Nathan and I went out to barbeque and then walked down South Congress and did some window shopping. There's a cowboy boot store down there that all the celebrities shop at. I think the cheapest boots we saw were $300 and some really cool ones were $1200. I should have taken some pictures. Some of those boots were real works of art. Later that night I hung out with the usual gang and we saw the Simpsons movie at Mike's and it was so good! Incredibly funny. Sunday Jayne and I were supposed to go out on my neighbor's boat but they canceled it because they thought the weather would get bad (and it didn't! boo hoo!). Instead, Jayne and I went swimming in her pool. She lives on a really expensive golf course so there aren't a lot of families with kids - we had the pool to ourselves for a couple hours. That helped my back a lot, but it was still painful.

Monday morning I was in agony on the way to work. When I parked, I could barely get out of the car. I tried sitting down and working, but after an hour I was like, no way is this cramps - something is really wrong with my back. The girl in the office next to me goes to the chiropractor once a month and she gave me her doctor's name. I have never been to a chiropractor and never really saw the need. But at that point, I was ready to try anything. They got me in at 10am and did some tests which were so painful I actually started crying. I NEVER cry over pain. They said I have a really high pain tolerance after doing the tests and marking my reactions. Some of the things I reacted to made them realize my back was a lot worse off than they thought from my initial description. It was my lower back - L5 disc that was inflamed. I went everyday this week and I'll go 3 times next week. They've been cracking my neck and back and putting this cool electrode thing on my lower back that pulses electricity through it and works out the muscles. I feel a lot better now, but still can't sit for very long. When I get up my back is incredibly tight. At least my insurance covers it. It's still a $35 co pay every single time. They took X-rays of my lower back and hips (awesome! love x-rays!) and I saw that my hips are a little uneven. They said that they'll work that out and everything should go back to normal in a couple months. I almost wish I had some crazy kinky monkey-sex story that I could blame this on, but I don't. Maybe I'll make something up....

  • Very happy for you and your growing friendship & relationship with MB. Sounds very cool ('s kinda how my wife and I got together, mutual interests and such)
For your back... my wife drinks chamomile for muscle tweaks. not sure about the disc inflamation; you working too hard on fixing up your house? A chiropractor (wife of a friend of mine) adjusts him every couple of days. When they were working on their kitchen, she would work on him twice a day... No drugs in the house besides an asthma inhaler... Hope your doctor gets it all worked out and your back fesses up as to why it acted up in the first place...

  • Apparently MB is keeping you too busy to update your blog. Well, either that, or the kinky monkey sex finally messed up your back, but good. Also, let me know if your posse is getting together to celebrate your B-Day.
